It seems that ever since a certain DJ has directed us to “Take it Vun Deepah”, producers have been striving to go that extra mile in the deep category. Miami based talent, Melissa Palichat AKA, Mz. Poppinz, gives us a steady, haunting, underground ready, deep house track featuring lyricist Felicia Douglass. Right from the get go, the record opens with deep-pluck synths, letting us know just how deep this track intends to go, immediately followed by a 4-to-floor drum-line, and catchy lyrics. The highlight of this track actually lays in the background; the finger-picked, organic guitar. Finding new ways to create stand-out music is extremely difficult in a saturated scene (enter EDM), however, a perfect way to combat this is to skillfully incorporate organic elements into the electronica of the track. Mz Poppinz really runs with this idea and gives us just enough of the organic element in ‘Hungry for It', clearly taking the “less is more” route. This song is perfect for late night Summer drives and chill sessions. Take a listen below and let us know what you think in the comments section below!
