The Woodlands Guide: A Firefly Preview

When Firefly Music Festival announced the lineup late last November for the event's fifth year, attendees — whether veterans of The Woodlands or not — began purchasing festival passes, very few of which have now been made available at the final price of $319 to attend all four days. Fans of various genres of music were ecstatic to see the names that topped the lineup: Mumford & Sons, Kings of Leon, and Florence & the Machine. Then, the electronic music fans were (obviously) happy to read the king of all trolls, deadmau5, above Firefly's other DJs and electronic artists.

Now, following Coachella, EDC (New York) and Ultra Music Festival, the season's underway and Firefly Music Festival has began approaching rapidly to kick off the 2016 summer. Attendees will be pitching tents less than one month from now, but what should they expect from Firefly?

Firefly Daily Lineup

Adding to the daily lineup, the set times had also been determined earlier last week, which featured Firefly's electronic artists already sprinkled throughout the weekend. Thursday has Felix Jaehn and Jai Wolf at The Pavilion (see Firefly map), as well as popular electronic duo AlunaGeorge who will play at The Lawn Stage.

Concerning electronic music, Disclosure, Porter Robinson, The White Panda and many more will be playing on Friday, while M83, Tchami and Vanic will be playing on Saturday and Major Lazer, Louis The Child and Hippie Sabotage will be the final electronic acts to finish the weekend on Sunday (among others). However, Firefly Music Festival has continued to bring one of the best varieties regarding genres of music and Firefly will showcase so many other must-see artists between Thursday, June 16 and Sunday, June 19.

Last year, Firefly had The Killers send the crowd on a nostalgia trip and this year the trip will continue. On Sunday, before Mumford & Sons take the stage, Blink-182 (though without Tom DeLonge) will be filling attendees with the teenage-angst that they haven't felt since puberty. Want to go back even farther? Earth, Wind & Fire will also be playing on Sunday and I cannot, personally, wait to hear “September” live!

Other artist and bands that electronic fans may want to see across the entire weekend will be: Atlas Genius, CHVRCHES, Grouplove, Oh Wonder, The Neighborhood, Tame Impala and one of my favorites at the moment, The 1975, who released their sophomore album earlier this year.

Rappers A$AP Rocky, Fetty Wap and Ludacris will also perform, but Firefly, furthermore, always goes beyond the music — an experience for all whom may attend! For those who have purchased passes, start getting hyped with the playlist below and for those who have not, less than one month…
