Last month, Gorillaz had returned to social media to post a timeline on how their career has been like thus far. Today, they have released a short animated story, revealing that a new album may be in the works. This new content has everyone looking forward to what the future may hold for Gorillaz.
Gorillaz named their story, “The Book of Noddle,” which is based on the guitarist of the band, Noodle. Told through animated videos and text, the story follows Noodle's life after “the Attack on Plastic Beach.” Noodle is in search to defeat a shape-shifting demon named Mazuu. Adding a bit of humor to the story, Noodle states that “finding a shapeshifter is like looking for a beard at an Arcade Fire concert.” You can find the story on the Gorillaz Instagram page, told in small pieces through each post.
The Gorillaz have yet to announce that a new album is being released; this is the first source of content they have released in years, leading people to believe that a new album is expected. Their latest release is their 2011 album “The Fall”, which features collaborations with Mick Jones and Paul Simmon. The unknown album has been confirmed to feature collaborations with Snoop Dogg and De La Soul.
