There is no doubt that Marshmello has taken every opportunity to continue his petty beef with Deadmau5. It goes without saying that Joel has been much less entertained by the two's interactions. Deadmau5 has been called out as a bully, and as a bad sport for not holding back with his thoughts about Marshmello over social media.
This is where I will include a bit of my opinion in this short article. Sure both producer's have the helmet gimmick going on, but at the end of the day it really is what the helmet stands for that makes the two different. Deadmau5 is one of the most accomplished and forward thinking musical minds of our generation, hate him or love him, that is just a fact. His helmet is a brand, but if he showed up to a show without it, almost nobody would care.
Marshmello on the other hand is using his helmet to conceal his identity, which has been widely speculated to be that of Dotcom. Marshmello has had tremendous commercial success with incredibly catchy songs, and a ridiculous personality, but at the end of the day he is hiding behind the helmet. His productions while very fun are not technically impressive, and we all know that underneath the helmet is an artist fighting to reinvent himself.
So when Marshmello included a knock off Deadmau5 among cameos that included Skrillex and Slushii in his last video we all kind of held our breath to see what the reaction would be. It seemed a little ridiculous. It is now getting to the point where Marshmello is using this beef to create publicity for himself, and while it is working, it seems for lack of a better word…desperate. It is easy to hate Deadmau5 because of his outspoken nature, but still you need to put personal bias aside and think about what he is saying. In my opinon, while it might be savage as hell, most of the time he is right on the money.

Deadmau5 had some short but poignant words for Marshmello via twitter, and soon after a new video for “Ritual” was uploaded without the likeness of Deadmau5 included. We have to imagine that this was a result of a C&D. Unfortunately this beef will most likely continue, when it honestly should have been dead before it started. Take a look at the new video below.
