Every March something very special happens in the city of Miami, FL. The biggest names in electronic music come together for arguably the most important weekend in the dance music industry. We are talking about none other than Ultra Music Festival, the biggest and baddest EDM wonderland the world has ever seen.Ultra features all of the biggest names from almost every genre in dance music, and diversely attracts over 150,000 attendees a year to its three day festivities. There is one main reason why Ultra is so important to our community. It is the fact that it signifies the beginning of festival season, and sets the tone for the upcoming summer as to which artists have grown, which have fallen off, and who the newest names in dance music will be. Ultra is arguably the end all be all most important performance for any artist in electronic music. Stars have been birthed in Miami, and there will be no exception to that this year.
Today, the festival released it's phase 1 lineup and it is absolutely ginormous. Boasting huge names in the industry who have become Ultra mainstays such as Tiesto, Above & Beyond, and Carl Cox, the lineup also contains a few major blasts from the past in OG dance music acts such as Justice, The Prodigy, and the return of Sasha & John Digweed on stage together. Acts like Justice Live and Sasha & John Digweed have not seen the stage for years in the specific performance style that they are set to gift to fans in Miami this year, making this lineup announcement very special.
