Electric Forest already stunned the country with it's announcement of an expansion to two weekend in 2017. This revelation of the festival's next installment was met with a collective sigh of relief. Electric Forest was experiencing quite the over crowding problem.

The first time I made my way to Michigan was in 2015, and the grounds were so packed, it took over 3 hours to gain entry to the festival from the camping grounds because of the line. This was a big disappoint because otherwise Electric Forest was one of the best festivals I had ever attended. The decision to split the festival into two weeks was made to help Forest keep a somewhat intimate vibe compared to other domestic festivals which are forever expanding until a breaking point. The one thing on everyone's mind moving forward was, does two separate weekends mean two separate line ups? Insomniac has answered the one question plaguing us all. Yes it does mean to separate line ups…well sort of. Take a look at both line ups below!
Electric Forest made is nice and easy for us to see where the two line ups differ. The names appearing in white are the one's exclusive to a particular weekend. It was a very good Job by the artist curators this year. The weekends appear very balanced. String Cheese Incident, the festivals landmark headliner who has appeared on top of the line ups since Forest was Rothbury, continue their reign as artist supreme this year. Bassnectar is the only other main frame headliner appearing on both weekends. Then the separation begins. While weekend 1 includes Odesza and Above and Beyond, as well as a live Nero set AND Pendulum DJ set, weekend 2 includes DJ Snake, RL Grime, A secret headliner, then dirty bird favorite Shiba San and DnB god Subfocus. So the weekends are balanced entirely in a sense of genre, fame, and variation…it comes down to where your favorite artists lie….
Tickets are on sale now for both weekends and can be purchased here through this link. Seeing as my favorite artists to see live are Above & Beyond and Odesza, you will totally find me at weekend one. Keep an eye out for more information as it becomes available. See you at the forest!
