Only months after one of the UK’s most iconic establishments were being forced to shut down leaving the DJ world in shock, Fabric London is set to reopen under a new agreement between the club and Islington council. The agreement will see Fabric reopen under a new set of licensing conditions which were put together by the club, council and metropolitan police.
The changes in the licensing agreement are as follows.
- The use of a new I.D. scanning system on entry to the club – Enhanced searching procedures and controls Covert surveillance within the club – Life-time bans for anyone found in possession of drugs, whether on entry or within the club
- Life-time bans for anyone trying to buy drugs in the club – Enhanced monitoring and external auditing for compliance against procedures
- Physical changes to the club, including improved lighting and additional CCTV provision – A new Security Company
- Persons under 19 years of age shall not be permitted to be on the premises as a customer or guest from 2000 hours on a Friday until 0800 hours on the following Monday or on any day during the hours that the operators promote a Core Club Night
Fabric was originally due to appeal the revocation of their license next week, however an agreement on providing a safe night culture was agreed on after countless open discussions between all parties.
Fabric London have released a brief statement on Facebook announcing the agreement and reopening of Fabric by stating “We are hugely thankful to be able to confirm the news that we have won our licence back. We owe everything to our supporters.”
The London Borough of Islington have also released an official statement citing that Fabric will reopen when they believe they can comply with the new licensing conditions.
