We have been consistently reporting about the tragedy that occurred at Elrow, a closing party of BPM festival at the Blue Parrot, in Playa del Carmen at 2:30AM local time Monday morning. Since the shooting did occur there have been numerous rumors around who perpetrated the act, and the exact nature of the shooting. While we still wait for coherent answers to many questions, we have found out from local media that the Solidaridad City Council has met and decided to ban the event from returning.
The decision is supposedly one that is based around economics. Playa del Carmen is a huge tourist location year round and the council did not want tragedies such as the one which took place on Monday to scare away potential visitors. There are rumors circulating around the local cartel's role in the shooting and reach in the local area. While this is sad and tragic News, BPM did announce they will be launching new festivals in both Brazil and Portugal this year. Stayed tuned to EDM Sauce for further developments on this story.
