What does heaven sound like? The simple answer is one of the biggest duo's in EDM, Slander. The ever popular, Diplo & Friends podcast provided an accurate depiction of their heavenly abilities behind a pair of decks. Released on Sunday; this compilation suspends all six senses into an ethereal out-of-body experience. Beginning with their new single ‘Superhuman,’ the beat drop exudes subs that are seriously heroic.
Abruptly inserting ‘Fake Love’ by Drake as a transition, this mix takes a turn for the deep house that many fans have wanting from Slander, in one of the most insane beat drops I’ve ever had the privilege of hearing.
Shortly after, a steadily intense remix of “4 Life” by DJ Snake broadens the spectrum of variety in this piece, increasing the dubstep/trapstyle intensity as each transition is rocked out. This mix has broken all rules, and does not cater to genre lines.
Also, featured on this mix are unhinged remixes of “Goosebumps” by Travis Scott, “Uber Everywhere” by Madeintyo, “Here Comes the Night” by DJ Snake, “Purple Lamborghini” by Skrillex & Rick Ross, “The Fifth Collaje” by Alon Mor & Clockvice, and plenty more.
Slander's Diplo & Friends mix will forever hold a special place in my heart, for this hour-long banger is truly a great example of what it means to shine in electronic music. Although at some points I was terrified of what sounds would consume my ears next, each beat drop further proved the true artistry behind this piece.
