It seems that every couple of weeks Rob Swire & Gareth McGrillen A.K.A Knife Party leave us questioning the standards of conventional electronic music, always wondering if there is something they can't do well? Hailing originally from the Drum n Bass monster that was (and looks like will again be) Pendulum, the two developed their Knife Party alias at the beginning of the Pendulum hiatus in 2011 and have since continued to dominate the Electronic music world. Throughout their careers, the duo have rose to fame largely due to their ability to produce and spin a vast range of electronic music styles. It seems every time they have a new release out, or play a set, we are always being surprised by the quality of their ability to grab songs no one could have expected, and proceeding to annihilate crowds with them. In celebration of Australia Day, BBC Radio 1 personality Annie Nightingale asked a few artist to create mixes for her radio show, and we were lucky enough to have Knife Party premiere the longest, and most diverse mix out of the bunch.
Ranging over an hour, the mix features relatively every genre in dance music. Going from dubstep, to house, to trap, to moombahton, to drum n bass, the duo absolutely slayed this mix into a grave we are not sure it can ever recover from. For fans, this is nothing new. In classic Knife Party fashion the group has sent chills down listener's spines at the point of every drop. Flawless mixing and fantastic track selection make for one hell of a journey through some of the most popular, and a lot of unidentified electronic music.
