Bijou is known as a G House Guru, and after hearing his latest release Lockdown, I am inclined to agree. With a dark techno feel to it, Lockdown comes at you with relentless drum kicks to start the song. As the bass thumps along in a steady flow, Bijou samples the vocals from the Ellis Dee track that also bears the name Lockdown. As the song carries on it gains size and continues to grow darker, the bass gets exponentially filthier. I love the sound created by Bijou with Lockdown and I look forward to catching his set at Middlelands Festival come May.
Lockdown for me is a track that hits close to home. G house is a genre in today's day and age that really takes hip hop and brings it into the electronic music world. The streets are an aspect of hip hop that many cannot correlate or really associate with house music. My goal with this song was to bring that real street aspect to life. Some say that its been done, but you can be the judge. – Bijou
