Isabelle Rezazadeh, aka alien bass goddess Rezz, just released her second single of 2017. Matrix released on Zeds Dead‘s label, Deadbeats will absolutely blow your mind. This track is part of the label's first Compilation Volume 1 now available on Spotify and apple music. The compilation features tracks from artists such as Megalodon, Zeds Dead and Memorecks.
Just a few weeks ago, Rezz dropped her first collab with K?d; Fourth Impact (read more about it here). Already this year, Rezz has toured on Holy Ship 9.0, been featured on Anna Lunoe‘s Hyper House radio show on BBC Beats 1, started her spring tour and now has dropped two singles. Wow. If the rest of 2017 is anything like these past two months for Rezz, we're in for a real treat.
The song Matrix is of a new style compared to your typical Rezz track. After her most recent EP, Something Wrong Here, her sound and vibe was clearly established. Her songs all are distinctively hers, but too an extent were starting to blend together, all being very similar. For us, Matrix broke this pattern and reminded us why we fell in love with Rezz in the first place. It starts out typically, with a heavy, thumpy, bassy 808. But the first drop is where it all changes. This drop is built up so heavily and then drops tremendously with so many different synths and beats, you can't help but make your typical stanky bass face. The intensity of the song then only continues to build throughout the track. Overall, this track is intense and heavy and almost on the verge of dubstep, which we haven't heard from Rezz in a while. But man, do we love it.
If you like what you hear, or you just love Rezz's trippy alien vibes, you're in luck. She's touring her latest EP, and will most likely be dropping this track and her collab with K?d. Check to see if she's coming to a city near you, and while you're at it, check out the rest of DeadBeats Compilation Volume 1.
