Stumbling on a new, unique sound can be quite refreshing. No matter your favorite genre of music, when your ears catch a different sound it sparks interest and a desire to hear more. That's Maddy O'Neal.
The Colorado up-and-comer female producer takes songs from completely different genres and fuses them together to create a whole bunch of awesomeness. Her latest iteration of this is her version of Alt-J's “Tessellate.“ It's like a hybrid of funk, indie rock and electronic goodness. It's genuinely interesting in all the right ways. You'll hear traces of the original Alt-J track, accompanied by billowing echos & melodic synths.
She got her start in the electronic dance scene as part of duo, Krooked Drivers. This remix of “Tessellate” seems to be one of her newer projects as a solo artist. In her short time as a solo act, she's opened up for Pretty Lights and spent her time touring. I would also recommend checking out her funky remix of Sublime's “What I Got” if you dig this track. Oh, and she also released a full album a few months back that's worth checking out too.
From what we can tell, Maddy O'Neal seems to really be garnering some serious attention as one of the few female producers to keep your eye on this year. Have a listen and let us know what you think in the comments section.
