Electronic Dance Music has evolved heavily since it's inception with it's first big experimentations in the 1970's and throughout it's time has found it's way into genres that one could have never expected. One of the biggest genres that has found a serious place in dance music is funk. Funk, gaining major popularity in thr 1970's as well, has seemed to evolve and interlock with EDM especially within the last five years or so. Artists such as Griz and Big Gigantic have found their niche in the community by combining heavy funk influences with their unique production style. Another artist who has explored the overlap between funk, electronica, hip-hop, and plenty of other genres is NYC producer Gramatik.
With the release of his latest album Epigram also came a remix project that features some of the best, most funk filled remixes that we have ever heard. Our favorite of them all though is the fantastically produced remix treatment that The Funk Hunters have laid down on Gramatik's hip-hop track “Satoshi Nakamoto” featuring rappers Adrian Lau and ProbCause. The remix brings a whole new feel to the original track including heavy funk influences that compliment the hip-hop aspects of the original perfectly. This remix does absolute justice to the original and has found a way to stand on it's own without disowning the original content. We haven't been able to stop jamming to this piece since we first heard it, so get ready to bob your head and take a listen below. We have a feeling you'll enjoy as much as we do!
