At the end of March every year, a special thing happens in the southern United States which when it begun, was largely unprecedented, and now has grown into something as large as dance music itself. Electronic music producers, agents, managers, organizers, promoters, and much more come together to celebrate and party their asses off in a massive gathering known as Miami Music Week. With the famous Ultra Music Festival headlining the events of the week, the town is taken over by ravers from all over the world who hop in their cars, onto buses, and into planes in order to take the pilgrimage to Miami. It is truly a special and unique experience that showcases the best aspects of our culture and our scene.
One downside to the week, is that some genres tend to dominate music week more than others. The lighter side of dance music reigns supreme as the biggest house, trance, and tech DJ's play the biggest nights at the biggest clubs and cultivate at the main stage at Ultra. While there are aspects and players in the bass music scene present most years, a large aspect of the underground bass scene seems to get lost in the melodic wave of sometimes deemed “cookie cut EDM”. Here at EDM Sauce, we truly appreciate the diversity of our scene, and what we are finding is that as every year passes the bass scene gets more and more involved in festivities down south.
This year, we are very grateful to see that dubstep don and overall proponent of the underground dub scene 12th Planet is giving his community the proper representation it deserves. 12th's label, Smog Records, is teaming up with one of the biggest players in the underground community LowR Levels. Together they are bringing a stacked lineup of underground madmen who are set to anhilate Miami bassheads in a way that only the dedicated talent of the underground can.
Supporting 12th's headlining set will be UK legend Hatcha, new age dub-monster CHMST, Sewer Sessions phenoms Codd Dubz & Symbiotic, and many more including a special set from the majority of the LowR Levels crew. From what we have heard, there will be plenty of other underground special guests in attendance, so don't be surprised if the lineup expands to include other artists as well as special back to back sets. As the underground is known for it's close, tight knit community, and it's ability to turn a single headliner show into an epic homie fest, the odds seem ever in the favor of attendees.
