Andrea Helfrich, host of Ultra Music Festival, gives us an exclusive sneak peak of what's to come this year's Ultra Music Festival.
Andrea's career began in broadcasting at the young age of 20 years old. She started working in news in upstate New York as a reporter for a Fox affiliate. From there she began working for a YouTube channel called EpicEDM where they would report on music festivals all around the world. Andrea's career blossomed from there as she began working with Ultra Music Festival 3 years ago as a field reporter correspondent. Throughout the years, Ultra decided to bring Andrea on the road to all of the Ultra Music Festivals across the globe.
To prepare for a music festival of this caliber, Andrea admits that she has to do a lot of research before the event. “It's always changing from new singles to new EPs to new collaborations.” Andrea also has a love for fashion and needs time to arrange her wardrobe before every Ultra. “I reach out to brands before the show and collaborate with them,” Andrea said. “”I want to make sure the Clothing brands that I work with, represent my style and personality. It's important to feel good in what you wear.” This year you'll see Andrea sporting some Australian brands as well as one of her favorite clothing lines, Civil Regime.
In addition to researching and working on her wardrobe, Andrea said she is much more aware of making sure her passports and visas are up to date. After being denied entry into Brazil for Ultra Brazil, she admits this is one of the first things she does before traveling.
Are you curious what happens behind the scenes and in between shoots during Ultra Live? “It's a lot of hustle and bustle and there's a lot of crew members that make it look so easy,” Andrea said. “Everything from making sure we're in the right location to getting together with the artist's managers and curating interviews. There's excitement, there's a lot of energy.”
During last year's Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Florida, more than 14 million people tuned into UMFTV from 152 countries worldwide to stream Ultra Music Festival. This year, Andrea expects it grow with the help of an incredible lineup, new fireworks and pyro, artists, and more in-depth artist interviews with the introduction of the UMF's new studio.
When Andrea isn't busy touring the world alongside Ultra Music Festival, you can catch Andrea hosting Tiesto‘s In The Booth as well as Florida's Beach Channel.
