We're so in love with GoodLuck‘s new single on Ultra, “I've Been Thinking About You.” The Cape Town group are hugely successful in South Africa, and their blissed out sounds are spreading fast around the world.
Check out their 5 Musical Guilty Pleasures…
1) Katy Perry – “Chained To The Rhythm”
Here are two things we love about this song: firstly, the beat and the bass is super tight and the slight dancehall feel is really great! Secondly, we love the message in this music – taking a stern look at pop culture and how we are all becoming pretty one-dimensional in our behaviour. The songs talks about a dream to “connect and inspire” with music, and that is what it's all about for us.
2) “Spice Girls – Wannabe”
Ok, so you guys might think we are “smoking our socks” on this one, but if you are a DJ – just TRY and play the opening line to a dance floor of bored EDM punters and tell me what happens. It's like someone sticks a fire right under their asses, it's amazing! We witnessed this at a party once (we weren't playing), but it was literally like pouring petrol on a fire… and a track with that much power is a track to be admired!
3) Ed Sheeran – Shape Of You”
Ah this guy – people love to “hate” on pop stars who have as much success as Ed is having at the moment, but in his case you just can't – he is too lovable! This is one of those pop songs that almost every songwriter wishes they had written – it is that good.
4) Coldplay – “Adventure Of A Lifetime”
We love the sentiment of this track and the hook is also awesome. We just love Coldplay in general really; even though they get a lot of press about how their music can be “same-same,” we think they are some of the best writers of our generation. This one is less of a guilty pleasure and just a pleasure, really.
5) Justin Bieber – “As Long As You Love Me” ft. Big Sean
Super guilty… but this song is good, man! We are not even sure why we like it…. but we do – haha!
