What's up EDMsauce fans!? Hope your Thursday is going as well as ours! Today we are announcing yet another talented producer to spotlight in our Artist of the Week series. His name is Steve Norris, otherwise known as, Snowlab, straight out of Colorado Springs, but currently making his production rounds in California!
Beginning his production career as many do, producing hip-hop beats for low-level rap artists in 2009, Snowlab has evolved his sound into a modern, original future bass / trap spectrum that really blew us away. Gaining support from touring artists such as NaRai, Kyle Richardson, Emily Harder, and Gabriela Geneva (who just recently won best up and coming artist in the Canadian Music Awards ceremony), he is finally making waves in the dance music world. This circuit also included running his own original remix contest with over 1000 submissions and over 200 entries to the contest, which is an accomplishment in itself.
Snowlab takes humongous pride in all of his productions, but also recognizes the need to mentor newer, younger up and coming artists. He recently started working as a production professor at Extreme Sports Camp, Woodward East, located in Pennsylvania, and will be teaching young music students how to produce electronic dance music.
Digging into the creative mind of Snowlab, we wanted to find out what it really takes to make your way through the electronic dance music industry. We really asked him how he mentally keeps it all together and keeping an open-mind of optimism throughout his journey.
“Its tough, you know? I spend hours every single day producing, mixing and mastering only to get denied left and right through song submissions. I feel like i've spent enough time and money to purchase a luxury vehicle at this point. All i've ever wanted to is play my music live to a rocking venue. Every day is a constant change, though, and every time i tell myself i want to quit, i push forward and continue to follow my dream of making music.”

Obviously, the production world isn't the easiest to delve into with the scene being overly saturated with artists and producers trying to make their mark on the world, but pursuing one's dreams is something that can never be underestimated.
Snowlab lets us know what it's like to follow the one thing that makes you happy in life.
“I'm addicted to committing my life to music. Through all the hard times, stress, and ruined relationships due to choosing music over EVERYTHING, i still never would go back and change a thing.”
Becoming our artist of the week takes more than just great music, it takes a persona that is dedicated to music, something that we've donned from day one at EDMsauce.com and will continue to focus on. It's not always about the glitz and glamour, who's dating who in the electronic dance music world, or what Deadmau5 put on twitter, at the end of the day, we're here to expose talented artists to the world with hopes that you appreciate their works of art, regardless of follower ship or outside influences.
This is exactly who Snowlab is.
