Seeb made their way into the public's eye by masterfully remixing Mike Posner's ‘Took A Pill In Ibiza'. They remixed it so well that when all was said and done their remix was more recognizable than the original track. A few weeks back they dropped their first original track of 2017, and now today they are following it up with a gorgeous remix. In honor of June beginning, which is gay pride month, the group took on Greg Holden's lyrical tale of a father learning to accept his gay son, ‘Boys In the Street'.
An Important Track Getting Reworked Is Complicated
Holden was lauded with positive attention for the original track as an ethic LGBTQ track. It was released during the same time as ‘Same Love' by Macklemore was receiving criticism as the high profile rapper took it upon himself to be the voice of a group which he was not a part of. Time Magazine reported that, ‘Holden's song became one of a golden standards for LGBTQ awareness.'
Seeb has a lot ahead of them in terms of making a proper remix for a song which was critically acclaimed for both it's musical excellence as well as social statements. Lucky for us they pulled through and delivered an incredible, upbeat, future bass rework of ‘Boys In the Street'. By including the original vocals of the track, the Norwegian group made sure the core message of the track was not lost.
