Just a few months after releasing their first feature-length EP ‘XX Files', Blasterjaxx show no signs of slowing down as they just released a second 7-track volume called ‘XX Files [Festival Edition]'.
It starts with the track ‘070’ that is full of bubbling bass and hip-shaking percussion. Next up is ‘Do Or Die’ which is the collection’s main vocal track with Lara delivering haunting vocals that lead to a sick bass and riff combo. Fans should already be familiar with recent single ‘Savage’, which has 700,000 YouTube and SoundCloud plays to its name within just a few weeks. In my opinion, it's the best track on the EP.
‘Seth’ opts for pitch-bending mystical riffs that have an almost Middle Eastern sound to them, pairing them to tribal beats and one of the EP’s most unique breakdowns. ‘Thunderdrums’ does exactly what the name suggests, with pounding rhythms hammering away under monotone synths and pumping horns. ‘Voodoo’ is one of the toughest cuts on the collection with frenzied synths that warp your brain on chattering percussion and spooky melodies in the breakdowns. ‘Charge’ closes out the EP with sumptuous strings, pulsing chord blasts and a slo-mo build that delivers in grand style.
It’s a solid collection of tracks built for festivals all over the world over. I know big room house is not for everyone but give this EP a chance and take a listen for yourself. Enjoy!
