When I say disco, you probably picture your parents dancing at their best friends wedding; one hand on their hip and the other rotating from an upward diagonal position to an opposite pointing downward diagonal position, all the while thrusting their hips in opposite directions. Also, the first dance move any of us ever knew, and still use today. Nile Rogers of “Chic” has pioneered and revolutionized the music industry since the adoption of that very dance move, or the genre responsible at least. Great News, the Disco/Funk legend is back to drop another album with hints of who has partnered on the project
On the 40th-year since bursting onto the scene with Chic, Rogers is set to drop another album. In a span of losing some of the Industry's most prominent stars and friends including, David Bowe and Prince, Rogers said in an interview with Rolling Stone, “I just want it to be a super celebratory year because I'm happy that I'm still walking this earth. I'm happy that I can still write songs. I'm happy that I still get hits. It just feels right to me to try and bring people the happiest experience we can.” Nile, LETS GO MAN! This is going to be Epic. Bringing good vibes is always dope and the passion you can just feel coming from this guy gets me going.
Priding himself over the years on adjusting with the music industry, while still maintaining some roots in the past, Rogers dropped some knowledge in a recent interview:
“Thank God I met people like Avicii, Lady Gaga, Daft Punk and Pharrell and we all keep writing music,” he said. “I also wrote the lyrics. You know, I don’t want to live in the past but it is a nice place to visit.”
…Any names stick out there? Avicii. Its been mostly quiet from Tim Bergling since his retirement from the Live stage last year. But here he is. His name. Avicii. Having teased working new music though his social media over the past year, we are in the midst of something here. Something epic. With dance roots spiraling from the Disco days, one of EDM's pioneers is partnering (for the second time) with one of the forefathers of Disco. Two dance music TITANS.. this is tight.
Avicii is already a member of the long list of the Music industries most renowned superstars to have worked with Rogers, with 2014 funky jam “Lay me Down” with Nile and Adam Lambert. Super funky/feel good track, peep below (if you haven't heard it before. Others to have worked with the Chic star include: Nicky Romero, David Guetta, NERVO, Daft Punk, Duran Duran, Madonna, Britney Spears, David Bowie, Lady Gaga, Pharrell Williams and many more… Being one of the first teasers from Avicii since his retirement from live performing, this should have every EDM fan foaming out the mouth. Not to mention, if you hit the kitchen and let your parents or grandparents know that a tribute to ‘Chic' is coming out by none-other than Nile Rogers, they will probably start to break down the Disco boogie for you. You also may finally have found a track to look forward to that you and your family can all enjoy in the whip on your ride to aunties dinner party!
Expect this album to drop this year with more of the 2014 track below. Put on the dancing shoes, this could be shuffled to.
