If you have been to one of Marshmello's sets this past month you have already heard this little edit. He has been playing it out to crowds with stellar results. That being said outside of a live performance the track does not pack much of a punch.
Marshmello took the minimalist route on this remix. He kept long sections of the original song and chopped up the beat here and there with some boosted bass. The interesting thing about this rework is that you really couldn't tell that it was Marshmello upon just listening. Mello has crafted a signature sound that is not present here. He juiced up the track to appeal to a wider audience but overall we can't really give much input on it. It is hard to give a rating as the remix is so very close to the original.
Marshmello‘s ‘Mask Off' remix perfectly serves it's purpose. It is a recognizable track that has been stepped up a little bit in order to justify rinsing it during sets. Marshmello has demonstrated that he knows his fan base well, and this remix perfectly caters to them. Check it out below.
