Let me start this by saying Miley Cyrus remains forever and always in my heart as Hannah Montana. God I loved that show. Her career comes with much speculation and questioning of attire. But, her musical success and talent have never been in question. Voice of a young Christina Aguilera. Don't judge me on that comparison. I write about EDM not Pop… Now that I think about it, she sounds absolutely nothing like Christina Aguilera. Genie in a bottle? Wrecking Ball? Naaaaah. I did think I was going to marry the both of them at one point or another in my life. So, the comparison lives…
Judging the recent success of her most recent chart topping single “Malibu”, it's only fitting that the worlds favorite, pinata harassing, accent yelling, mustache shaving, Diplo hugging, Snap Chat sending, Von-Deepa going, Moombahton playing DJ would drop a remix. The original was solid, but, Dillon pulled a page out of the Moombahton playbook and made it smoother, but ever so funky. It's only fitting that he initially teased the remix to the dancing bath monkey that we all know and love. While the original was more of a slow-tempo vocal focused tune with smooth underlying production, Gerald's pop's flipped the script to make it the exact opposite. He turned it into a production focused track utilizing the vocals to strengthen the punch. He brings in retro build accompanied by a drop that isn't quite Moombahton, but, still has a bit of a taste.
Dillon Francis has been putting smiles on our faces for years and it doesn't appear that will be changing anytime soon. I mean, the dude dropped a tape called “MEOW That's What I call Dillon Francis! 69″… If that sole title doesn't make you a fan of this guy, I don't know what will. Dillon took a down-tempo pop track and turned it into an EDM hit. Enjoy this and add it to your playlist for America's Birthday. Minimum of SPF-15 required.
