As electronic dance music has grown over time, many other genres have found dance music influences, sounds, and fans infiltrating their scene. Some fans defy these ever-growing crossovers and stick to the purist mentality with the music they love, and some can’t get enough of it. When it comes to other genres exploring more electronic sounds, it seems that EDM fans have welcomed the hybrid mentality with open arms. The exciting “live” aspect of electronic music that has been growing in popularity is a major testament to that. It seems that more and more people want to see the producers they love master something more than CDJ’s.
A genre, which has experience one of the heavier crossover waves, is the jam band scene. Jam bands forever have slightly divulged into the electronic spectrum looking for ways and means to create the sounds they want. However, today that has multiplied ten fold. A band like The Disco Biscuits throws the extremely successful Camp Bisco festival every July and fills their lineup with the hottest names in electronic music right now. Lotus, a band who plays at Bisco almost every year, has grown in popularity through their vehemently electronic influenced sound. The list goes on.
A band that does this with full success and unlimited possibilities is Zoogma. Zoogma, while having a slow uptick in their fan base, has found a way to consistently convert many dedicated fans in their first experiences with the band. Their slots on many smaller jam band and electronic dominated festivals has provided them a diversity which has expanded their fan base dramatically. Now, it’s pretty clear to most the talent that Zoogma has, and those who have already been transformed can’t seem to get enough of them.
Luckily, for Philadelphia Zoogma fans, the band will be performing at arguably the most popular club/venue in the city for EDM fans, Coda. On August 10th, Coda will provide a perfect setting for the band to play an intimate show, while still keeping the room expansive enough so fans have the chance to dance the night away. Another special treat added to the show, is an opening set by Philly locals Wax Future. The electro-funk duo is similar to Zoogma, once you see them you’re pretty much a fan for life.
This show is truly going to be one you will not want to miss. Tickets are cheap and available here. Make sure to grab yours ASAP, they are rightfully moving off the shelves very fast. We can’t wait to party and get down with you all on August 10th!
