Welcome to yet another fantastic week here at EDMsauce as we begin the month of August with a brand new producer coming to our Artist of the Week series!
Today we bring you Alyx Ander, a very sophisticated up and coming artist that has given us a taste of a super-emotional brand of dance music. He's garnered serious attention from around the world with his original records, and continues to rock the dance music world with every release.
When asked about his unique style, Alyx explained where he receives the bulk of his inspiration:
“I'm not quite sure how to pinpoint my production style, for a while we called it champagne house. it combines melodic vocals and classic chord progressions, with a dash of sin and hint of grime. i've been inspired by anything from nature sounds to the strings on bjork's vulnicura, so i don't really follow a particular style. i produce what i like and what i'm currently feeling.”
Alyx hails from Queens, New York, and comes from a family of musical artists who spent their years playing jazz and classical music. This allowed Alyx to be easily groomed into the musician he is today. He is classically trained and has attended the prestigious LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts and later attended University of Miami's Frost music business program. This type of training and education has allowed Alyx to expand in areas during the creative process that many simply cannot:
“For me, it's important that my music captures a moment and creates a lasting STORY within the space and time. I call them ‘soundtrack moments' – those times when a song takes an ordinary experience and turns it into an unforgettable memory.”
Alyx first gained world wide attention after being featured on Pete Tong's infamous BBC Radio 1 UK based radio show. After debuting his single, “Close Enough” featuring Maria Z., and being played on Tong's radio show. Because of this exposure, it was added to the most influential playlists across the country on every single streaming platform. It reached as high as #25 on iTunes ‘Electronic Chart' and spent a massive 14 weeks in rotation on SiriusXM‘s Chill channel and has amassed over 3 million rounds of playing on Spotify.
This early success was followed up with another original tune titled, ‘Memories of You', and spent an impressive 19 weeks on Sirius XM; airing on both its Chill station and the always glorious BPM radio.
His latest track, ‘Wake up for the Night', is sure to succeed with the help of 2013 ‘The Voice' finalist Caroline Pennell, a super-deep, chilled out, original track that highlights Alyx's incredible production capability and ability to keep pumping out fresh music day after day!
Alyx really expressed his confidence in the track when asked about it:
“I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. It's beautiful and delicate, yet, very strong at the same time.”
We're extremely excited to host Alyx on our Artist of the Week series and have full confidence that he can boost his career to the main stages at any festival in the near future. We hope you enjoyed this round of Artist of the Week! Keep checking back for more amazing artists to come!
