So far August has been a rough month for music festivals. We have seen many go the way of the Dodo this year, from Mysteryland USA to Karoondinha to most recently, UpNorth which was canceled just a week away from it's starting point. Many other festivals including Lollapalooza and Moonrise have been forced to have temporary evacuations due to weather. Now the legendary Shambhala festival can be added to the list.
Due to forest fires coming in quick to the area, Canadian officials have worked with event organizers and decided to fully cancel the final day of the event. While the fires do not directly threaten the festival directly this can change quickly with the right direction of wind change. Therefore British Columbia officials and Shambhala organizers have asked all attendees to vacate the grounds by 11am today. While many attendees stayed optimistic and practiced their rain dances, it seems the organizers have stuck with their decision.
The festival was clear in the comment section of the below Facebook post that refunds would not be offered as per the back of the tickets for the event. Forest fires fall under the act of god category it seems. Read the full post below.
