Sam Feldt’s highly anticipated collaboration with Akon is finally here and it’s one of the best tracks of the year. In what has been a career year for the Spinnin’ Records DJ, there has been no lack of pace. Starting the year off with hit single “Open Your Eyes” with Hook n Sling followed by smash hit “Fade Away” with Lush & Simon and Inna, the hybrid Deep & Tropical house producer has eclipsed to superstardom. Since dropping “Show me Love” with angelic vocals by Kimberley Anne back in 2015, Feldt’s sound has proven not only captivating but extremely unique in an era of redundant dance pop.
This track could not be titled any more perfectly, “Yes”. Because a wise man once wrote, “Yes on Yes on Yes on Yes”.
Nothing like a late summer banger that quivers the heebie-jeebies on a million. I heard the teaser to “Yes” in Summer 17 sets by Sam and the Live team. Straight after the first 5 seconds you are hooked. With the slide across the strings of the guitar, Akon’s unique sound ensues meshed with the deep tropical vibe being delivered. Sam Feldt LIVE trumpet player, Q on Trumpet, gets the nod to bring in extra feels. Something about the trumpet, gets the ladies undies gaining moisture. That may have been inappropriate and I may get some choice words from the boss, but it was not #fakenews. The ability to incorporate different instruments including: keyboard, guitar, trumpet and sax, have proven Sam to be an innovator in his production. It has also allowed him to gain more and more backing in the industry.
To date, Akon is probably the biggest star Sam has collaborated with. There is no doubt that the Senegalese singer, songwriter, business man, producer, actor… As I write these things, I can’t help but think how crazy it would be crazy to see an Akon resume. What would his objective be? He has done everything… Anyways, what I was getting at is Akon has to be impressed with Sam’s ability to manipulate sound and deliver an electrifying, lone standing product that mesh’s perfectly with his collaborators sound.
Coming off of his 24th birthday on August 1, Sam Feldt has another banger for the Books. Labor Day weekend will feature a ridiculous amount of Bud Latte’s, Tanning Oil (Zero SPF because summer is leaving and who cares if you get burned, it turns to tan anyways), a bottle of Jack Daniels, A 2-liter bottle of Coke, 3 Lemons and a Beats Pill blasting the vibes of summer including one of Sam’s best tracks yet, “Yes” featuring Akon (along with Music Video). One of his most recent episode of Heartfeldt Radio #81 can also be listened to below! What you think? Show Your Love, no pun intended…
