Looking forward to things has become a large part of my life but I don't think anything has amounted to the excitement I had for Oregon Eclipse Festival. Thirteen of the leading transformative festival organizations from around the world came together to curate the event of the century. Taking place on the Big Summit Prairie in the center of the Ochoco National Forest in central Oregon. The seven day celebration of the celestial universe ran from August 17th until the 23rd. On the 21st of August the first total solar eclipse since 1979 was visible from a narrow band across the United States. A 65 mile wide path crossed the span from Oregon to South Carolina in a matter of a few hours. A total solar eclipse is a rare visualization of the mathematical beauty of the cosmos that we inhabit. In addition to being a visually impressive phenomenon, scientists used the short window of the eclipse for calibration and as a rare opportunity to study the moon and sun.
Big Summit Prairie was transformed in to an overflow of adventures, insights, community and more than enough internationally renowned artists, performers and speakers to fuel the momentous occasion. Featuring seven curated stages of music, roaming art cars, hot air balloon rides, breathtaking art installations, and even a deluxe spa. Global Eclipse Gathering was stacked with eye candy and activities. Delivering tons of workshops, interaction, speakers and a slew of vendors; spiritual exploration was pulsing through the land with energetic agility. One of the key goals of the event was to bring peoples minds together from all corners of the globe and create new ideas that would have otherwise not been possible. Many great connections were made on all levels. Eclipse2012 was a festival put on by some of the same people in Australia celebrating the eclipse that was visible there. This festival helped strengthen the international bond between the festivals involved and made following eclipse events possible.
I had a fenominal time at the Global Eclipse Gathering, a massive international congregation and celebration of the celestial masterpiece that is everything in our universe put on beautifully by every single person involved.
