We said goodbye to Optimus Gryme in my home town of Christchurch, New Zealand on the weekend. To say it was large, is definitely an understatement as I am still coming to terms with the week 3 days after the fact.
Optimus Gryme needs very little introduction around our parts… he was there at the start of the Dubstep and Drum n Bass revolutions here in New Zealand and he has played every large festival, club, paddock, private party right across Australasia. He's definitely done his part to lift the sound and put the genre on the map.
The tour must go on though and this is a shout out to the Melbourne crew!
Join them as they bring in extra Sound & Lighting for maximum low end frequencies and top notch visuals!
Supported by ISM (The artist formerly known as Organikismness)
—————————————————————–
A new direction, a sound refined, ISM, rising from the smouldering ashes of New Zealand's drum and bass artist “Organikismness”
The ISM sound has not fallen too far from the tree from which it started. The production is still stripped back and organic sounding, the vibe is still deep and dark, but the boundaries have been drawn closer to that which are normally excepted as bass music.
A focus split almost straight down the middle between the traditional DnB tempos and rhythm structures, and the other half, the focus on half time / hip hop and mid tempo grooves.
