Haiku From Zero – Cut Copy's first proper studio album in nearly four years and first for Astralwerks – is now available HERE in digital, cassette, CD and LP formats. The vinyl edition is also available at select U.S. record stores. Written and recorded at studios around the world (Melbourne, Copenhagen, Washington, DC, New York, Atlanta), Haiku From Zero was produced by Ben Allen (Deerhunter, Animal Collective, Neon Indian). It is the follow-up to 2013's Free Your Mind.
Cut Copy will support Haiku From Zero with a North American headline tour, which kicks off on October 3 at Tricky Falls in El Paso, Texas. The run will include a November 10 concert at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles and a November 24 show at Terminal 5 in New York City. See below for itinerary. Tickets are available at http://cutcopy.net/tour/. Palmbomen II will support Cut Copy on the fall run beginning on November 9. The band will also perform at the CRSSD and Austin City Limits festivals.
“When we first started in Australia, there wasn't really a scene for live electronic music,” recalls frontman Dan Whitford, “You were either someone that would go to raves or the club, but you wouldn't go and see bands. Or you were an indie kid that went to see bands and had never listened to something with programmed drums before in your life. Cut Copy has always been an amalgam of those two things. So much has changed in the world since we started making music, but that aspect of the band – the desire to try and encompass everything – has only grown stronger.”
“Careful not to sound too clean or precise, the band nimbly shifts between minor-key verses and major-key choruses, melancholy and euphoria, reality and escapism. And there, in the thick of prodigious extremes, the members of Cut Copy find their sweet spot,” said NPR Music, which gave fans an exclusive “First Listen” to Haiku From Zero last week. NPR Music also declares Haiku From Zero“magnificently ambitious,” citing it “their finest album in years.”
