With their new single “About You” out now and featuring the phenomenal vocals of Alex Vargas, we decided to call upon DECCO to share and provide their five musical guilty pleasures this week.
There are some real gems in there…
1) Toni Braxton – “Unbreak My Heart”
S: I was probably about 13, very unhappily in love with this girl in school. This one always takes me back but it’s also a great song, that modulation into the chorus – too good.
2) Miley Cyrus – “Party In The U.S.A”
S: Miley’s pre-twerk era all-American good girl party anthem is just the most perfect gem of a pop song. The lyrics have that great unpretentious, narrative country touch and the snare is just epic.
3) Katy Perry – “Teenage Dream”
J: This one feels like an anthem, it always gives me that “free spirit, easy living” feeling. To me, it’s the perfect pop tune.
4) Wheatus – “Teenage Dirtbag”
S: 90s in a nutshell. Hilarious, catchy and so well-produced.
J: Probably too cool for this list, but it’s just such a classic.
5) New Radicals – “You Get What You Give”
J: It feels like this could have been an inspiration for “Teenage Dream.” Maybe that’s why I love both of those songs. The tonal language really speaks to me.
