Australia is usually a decently progressive nation/island/continent but oddly enough the kangaroo kingdom was far behind the times on one major social issue. The country still does not allow same sex couples to legally marry. In order to gauge public opinion on this issue the Aussie government sent out a mail survey to literally every citizen asking if they are in favor of legalizing gay marriage. The populous overwhelmingly said YES.
Now this does not mean that it is now law, this vote only actually opened up the subject on the parliament floor for debate. That being said it was still a major step in the right direction to help pull Australia into the 21st century. Needless to say loads of artists were thrilled to see Australia come through, many of which are native to the country.
🌈 🌈 🌈 YAY!!! Australia said YES to #marriageequality … it's about time!!! 🌈 🌈 🌈

Click bait is more like tear bait today. To my queer friends and fam, I’m so sorry our gutless government made you go through that horrible plebiscite. Thank fuck equality won. Now back to happy tears 🌈💕
