Every time I sit down to review new music on Thursday night, I tend to jump through tracks. I skip the intro and immediately see if the meat of the tune is good enough to listen to entirely. I did this with ‘Ain't That Why' and when I heard a future bass drop, I immediately started to cringe. Future Bass has been done a lot and it is difficult to produce something that is both original and captivating in the genre. That being said, I continued to listen and thank god I did. ‘Ain't That Why' has a depth many future bass tracks lack.
Krewella supplying the vocals to the track elevate it to a new level. Making the vocals the star of the tune was a wise decision, as the gorgeous lyrics balance out with the drop which is more or less a run of the mill future bass arrangement. Overall ‘Ain't That Why' is a beautiful take on something that has been done in spades. So bravo to both R3hab and Krewella for taking something stale and injecting some original class into the mix.
