So as most days I found myself browsing various subreddits, poking around for fun threads and so forth when I actually came across a little piece of trivia I entirely forgot about, and thought I would share for those who have gotten into dance music since the break up of Swedish House Mafia 5 or so years ago.
Everyone knows that Swedish House Mafia was composed of Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell. Many are not aware that another Swede was invited to be apart of the group. That mystery Swedish individual is none other than Eric Prydz. A fan brought up this piece of trivia that many skim over on the groups Wikipedia page which is summarized in the “Formation and Prior Endeavors” section:
“Before the official formation in late 2008, the trio would often play shows together with fellow Swedish DJ Eric Prydz joining them for some shows. The name Swedish House Mafia came about after friends and fans began labelling the four as they played more shows together. Eventually the group adopted the name. Prydz decided not to join the group, describing himself as a ‘control freak' in the studio who can't abide collaboration, even with close friends.”
So there you have it, Eric was close joining up with the trio but because of his perfectionism in the studio he decided to decline the offer. Thank god too. If Eric had joined we may never had heard from his alter egos Pryda and Cirez D as much as we have in the past decade.
