Marshmello is a masked EDM producer and DJ. His identity is unknown, although he has been speculated to be American DJ and producer Chris Comstock, also known as Dotcom. Marshmello's first original song was “WaVeZ”, which was released on June 28, 2015, on Skrillex's record label OWSLA. Since then, he has released numerous singles and has made collaborative works with artists such as Jack U, Slushii, Migos, Khalid, Selena Gomez, Anne-Marie, blackbear, Bastille, Juicy J and Darci Lynne. His debut studio album Joytime was released in January 2016, consisting of 10 electronic dance music tracks. In 2017, he collaborated with American singer-songwriter Logic for the single “Everyday”. His second studio album Joytime II was released in June 2018. In 2019 Marshmello received his first Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording for his single “Silence” with Khalid. In the same year Marshmello collaborated with American singer Lil Peep on the posthumous single “Spotlight”. Marshmello wears a custom-made marshmallow mask which fully conceals his identity; because of this he is often compared to Slipknot's masked percussionist Shawn Crahan who goes by the moniker “Clown“.
